Wonnie Kim

Associate Director for The Art of Care Initiative

Wonnie Kim (she/her) is a theater producer, educator, and artist based in Washington, D.C. She is a graduate of Georgetown University, where she studied Healthcare Policy and Classics. Her interdisciplinary studies culminated in her department’s first theater studies thesis, which examined parallels between theatrical and public health responses to the U.S. AIDS epidemic. As an advocate for theater as care, she was the Assistant Director for The Art of Care (dir. Derek Goldman) at Mosaic Theater Company. Now as an Associate Director for The Art of Care Initiative at The Lab, she manages the operations of the Initiative, collaborating with community partners to host events and gather research at the intersection of art and care. Wonnie is also a Community Engagement Fellow at Arena Stage, previously working as a Learning Apprentice at the Shakespeare Theatre Company. As a Korean American raised in Ohio, Wonnie believes that the power of theater is not only the stories that are told but also how works are produced and fit within their community.
