The Horse of Jenin

The Laboratory For Global Performance & Politics in partnership with Studio Theatre, will screen a recorded performance of Alaa Shehada's Edinburgh Fringe Festival hit The Horse of Jenin this spring. With a mix of stand-up, storytelling, and mask work, Palestinian comedian Alaa Shehada tells the story of coming of age and coming to art under the watch of the Horse of Jenin: a giant sculpture created from the rubble of a major invasion in Jenin in 2003.

Today, March 27, we invite all theatres, artists, institutions, and theatre lovers to celebrate World Theatre Day, a day recognizing the power and importance of theatre. This year's international message author is Willem Dafoe. This year, Moisés Kaufman authors the U.S. message and the U.S. Emergent Artist message is authored by Banna Desta.

State of Mind National Institute

State of Mind has toured Montana for 18 months, inspiring national interest from theaters, universities, and health coalitions to create this 3-day Summer Institute. It tackles stigma, amplifies youth voices, and builds innovative strategies for community care. Developed by University of Montana's Co-Lab for Civic Imagination and Montana Repertory Theatre, co-hosted by The Art of Care Initiative at The Lab.

The Lab humanizes global politics through performance. We cultivate a distinctive global community of collaborators that includes students, emerging and established artists, educators, policy leaders, and activists. Our work harnesses narrative, memory, and acts of witnessing with the aim of sparking transformation and change.
