The Lab Community

Karen Samy is a sophomore in the SFS tentatively majoring in International Politics with a minor in Religion, Ethics, and World Affairs. Karen immigrated to Fairfax, Virginia from Cairo at four years old, with a brief stint in Saudi Arabia. Theatre and performing arts have been a source of connection, empathy-building, and expression through every stage of her life, and she’s so excited to be able to work with the Lab on telling stories that impact the ways in which we view the world. She has been involved with both musicals and devised theatre throughout high school, and has both performed and worked on technical aspects in Mask and Bauble Dramatic Society and Nomadic Theatre shows at Georgetown. Karen is especially interested in the ways in which the performing arts can express aspects of humanity in order to dismantle concepts of the other.
