My name is Katherine Martinez, a first generation college student descending from Mexican and Guatemalan heritage. I am currently a senior at Georgetown University, working towards my degrees in English and Theater & Performance Studies. While my art and writing often explores my personal experiences, the themes are larger than my personal experiences, particularly around social and political issues. These include topics like care and wellness, climate change, systemic racism, feminist theory, and LGBTQ+ rights. What I value most in my work is my authenticity, my openness to vulnerability, and my commitment to being thoughtful. These qualities define me as an artist, and even when I’m not creating, they continue to guide me.
