Iz Klemmer is a freshman in the SFS hoping to major in Culture and Politics and minor in Music and Latin America Studies. Originally from Fairbanks, Alaska, they currently call Wisconsin their home. Their research interests lie in the intersection of folk music and politics, specifically as used for social movements. Music has always been a part of their life, from bluegrass violin as a kid to 14 years of classical violin and orchestra. In high school, Iz provided music for 4 theatrical productions as a part of the pit orchestra and was constantly surrounded by artists and performers. At Georgetown, they are a violinist in the GU Orchestra, an intern with the Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor, and an organizer with various campus activism and social justice groups, so they can’t wait to explore the intersection of performance and politics with the Lab!
