Henry Wamai is a Kenyan creative technician and visual storyteller working at the intersection of theatre, live production and documentary across five continents. With over 25 years shaping live and visual narratives from Tinga Tinga The Musical at New York’s New Victory Theater to festival stages in Munich, Zürich, Erlangen, East Africa, South Africa and Rabat. He brings the rare fluency of someone equally at home at the calling technical booth and behind the camera.
His documentary and storytelling work has been commissioned by institutions including Yale, Georgetown University, NYU Abu Dhabi, Arts Emerson, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Mastercard Foundation. He is also the creator and drummer at Kitu Simpo, a Nairobi live music experience built on musicianship and community.
